Often there is no operating system and the embedded systems resources like CPU-power and memory are limited. One of the main features of embedded software is the adherence to the real time requirements. This means that the application has to compute the desired result within a predefined time frame and the behaviour must always be precisely predictable. Depending on the field of application there are high requirements to the implementation, especially in safety critical applications like e.g. in the aerospace industry. |
